If you’re looking for just another reason to love the Electric City, we have some good news for you: Scranton has been named one of the top 10 cities for big, affordable houses, according to research conducted by Realtor.com®.

What exactly does this mean? If you’re looking for the most bang for your buck in terms of NEPA real estate, you might want to look at Scranton.

Large homes are defined as 3,000 square feet or more. Typically, homes around this size cost around $147/square foot, according to Realtor.com® listings data. That means the average price for a 3,000 square foot home is around $441,000. Comparatively, you might be able to snag an equal sized home in Scranton for just $94.99/square foot. Even better is the fact that these large homes aren’t exactly rare in this area. In fact, nearly 15% of Scranton homes are 3,000 square feet or larger.
