While defining “American” cuisine is a challenge, it’s not so difficult finding good American food in the Back Mountain. And what’s better than that? Finding good brews, too. Check out these places for good food and drinks:

The Beaumont Inn offers contemporary American style dining with a French influence. The restaurant is separate from the Inn which offers 10 rooms. Key highlights include the Beaumont botanical gardens where you can dine al fresco style and enjoy live music on the flagstone patio during the summer months. The food is locally grown, including produce from an on-site organic heirloom garden. The Beaumont Inn can be booked for private parties and events, too.

North Slope features a rotating selection of craft beers and ciders all brewed on site. Their menu also features cocktails, wine, and pub fare sourced from local farms. Trivia night is every Wednesday night at 7 and, during the summer, bands play on Thursdays. Catering and private on-site events are also available.

The Back Mountain restaurant is the second Leggio’s location and offers much of the same menu items as available in the Plains Township location. Such items include both Italian and American dishes, including soups, pasta, seafood, and pizza. Leggio’s offers affordable family dining.

Asaki is a pioneering Japanese restaurant offering all the tastes of Japan, from Sushi to Hibachi. The full liquor bar serves exciting cocktails and many beers from the orient as well as an extensive list of sakes. Unlike other Japanese restaurants, Asaki is open between lunch and dinner.

While Grotto serves up everything from wings to calzones, pasta, and gelato, they’re most notable for their pizza. It’s “the legendary taste,” after all. Grotto’s original Harvey’s Lake location offers the Grand Slam Sports Bar & party deck, as well as private rooms available for parties and meetings. For over 40 years, Pizza Perfect has been serving up delicious pizza and wings, as well as BBQ, ribs, sandwiches, and more. They have been voted best Pizza & Wings in the Back Mountain 9 years in a row. If you’re a fan of Sicilian-style pizza, this one is hard to beat.
